The new Opel Combo-e can go up to 280 kilometers on a single charge

Opel has announced the new Combo-e Life electric car, which will be available in a driveway near you soon! The German manufacturer's all-electric leisure activity vehicle (LAV) is adaptable and practical, with ample interior space. It is available in 4.4-meter-long regular or 4.75-metre-long XL versions, with five or seven seats. The new Combo-e Life can go up to 280 kilometers on a single charge of its 50 kWh lithium-ion battery, depending on the driving profile and the conditions (WLTP). Moreover, owners may refill the battery at public charging stations to 80% in around 30 minutes.

Young families with multifaceted lifestyles who live in or near towns or cities need to transport several children and seek "green mobility" will like the Opel Combo-e Life in particular. The brand's new electric car, the Blitz, even has a towing capacity of 750 kg, which is class-leading in this market area and the option of trailer stability control.

"The Combo-e Life is the multi-functional everyday hero in our electric passenger car line," says Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Opel. "The new battery-electric version of our popular leisure activity vehicle provides clients who want huge seating capacity and loads of room with the added benefits of zero emissions and nearly silent propulsion."

The Opel Combo-e Life is ideal for the open road, thanks to its electric power system's 100 kW and 260 Nm of torque. Depending on the model version, the leisure activity vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.2 seconds, with a top speed of 130 km/h (electronically limited) that makes the LAV "autobahn-proof." In addition, a clever regenerative braking system with two user-selectable settings improves efficiency even further.

The battery has 216 cells and 18 modules, is housed beneath the floor between the front and rear axles, allowing full use of the passenger compartment. The battery also lowers the center of gravity in this region, which improves wind stability and cornering for more driving excitement.

The Opel Combo-e Life is equipped with several energy infrastructures and charging alternatives, including wall boxes, rapid charging, and, if necessary, a cable for charging from a household plug outlet. Charging the 50 kWh battery to 80% takes about 30 minutes using a 100 kW DC public charging station. In addition, the Combo-e Life comes equipped with either a solid three-phase 11 kW onboard charger or a single-phase 7.4 kW onboard charger, depending on the market and infrastructure.

The new Combo-e Life electric car, like its petrol and diesel engine brothers, was named "Best Buy Car Europe 2019" by AUTOBEST. It also makes no concessions regarding safety, comfort, or convenience. From hill descent control, lane assist, and driver drowsiness warning to traffic sign recognition and forward collision alert with pedestrian protection and automated emergency braking, the full range of class-leading technology and driver assistance systems is extensive.

The Panorama Back View camera, which improves visibility to the rear and sides, is handy for parking. In addition, owners who want greater traction in mud, sand, or snow can add the IntelliGrip electronic traction control system to their Combo-e Life.

Opel provides the Combo-e Life electric car in two lengths (4.40 m and 4.75 m as the XL model version) with five or seven seats, making it an appealing vehicle for taxi companies. The shorter five-seater has a trunk size of at least 597 liters (850 liters in the longer version). The multipurpose daily hero practically resembles a "freighter." The short version's baggage volume more than triples to 2,126 liters, while the extended one can carry up to 2,693 liters. Furthermore, the optional front passenger dump-latch seat folds flat with the rear seats, expanding the loading space and transporting surfboards.

The optional panoramic roof allows guests to stargaze or soak up the sun's rays while their luggage is safely stowed. If the sun is too bright, an electric sunblind triggered by a switch in the overhead console may be closed to give shade. When open, the panoramic roof enhances the sense of space even more while also generating a pleasant and bright atmosphere. The Opel Combo-e Life comes standard with overhead storage extending down the vehicle's center and LED illumination when purchased with the panoramic roof. The newcomer is also outfitted with a big 36litre storage box located above the hat tray in the boot in this configuration.

Owners of either variation may opt between a regular second-row bench with a 60/40 split or three separate seats that can be folded simply from the boot. In both circumstances, each sitting position comes equipped with its own Isofix child seat bracket, allowing three child seats to be installed next to each other.

They may enjoy Combo-e Life's infotainment while everyone is sitting comfortably. The Multimedia Radio and Multimedia Navi Pro systems include a giant 8.0-inch touchscreen as well as excellent connectivity. Both have phone connections with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

"OpelConnect," the "my Opel" app, and "Free2Move" offer particular solutions for electric cars to make life with the Combo-e Life as comfortable as possible. Apps are used to access the services.

The "Charge My Car" component of the "Free2Move" app provides access to over 220,000 charging sites around Europe, as well as payment. The "Free2Move" software chooses a public charging option based on the distance to the charging outlet, charging speed, and current charging fee.

The new Opel Combo-e Life will be on sale this winter, joining the Corsa-e, Opel Mokka-e, Grandland X plug-in hybrid, and Zafira-e Life as the latest member of Opel's electric passenger vehicle lineup. The brand will have nine electrified models in its lineup by the end of this year, including the next-generation Opel Astra as well as the Opel Vivaro-e, Combo-e, and Opel Movano-e light commercial vehicles (LCV). By 2024, Opel will provide an electric version of every passenger car and light commercial vehicle model. @EV stories.
